That's so crazy to me. In Canada, we are allowed 4 hours to go vote during the work day, whether it be federal or provincial elections. At least in my job we are, and I thought that it was mandated everywhere.It's generally the same across the USA, though exact laws vary by state and the time, if it must be taken out of the work day, is potentially unpaid. This is generally not great, as there is a non-trivial portion of the population that can't afford to take that time unpaid.
